Hey! Look at Me!

Daria was kind enough to offer me an invite for Gmail, so, officially, I am a Gmailophite (Gmailian? Gmailanian?). My Magickal Musings mail gets SO much freaking spam I can’t stand it. I have all the spam filters and whatnot, but it is SO depressing to watch your mail program download 94 messages and have only about 2 of them REALLY be for you. And one of THOSE is just a bot from Renderosity announcing that one of your favorite artists has uploaded a new picture. And the other one is just a vioxxx ad that didn’t get caught by the filter. (Did you get the fact yet that I would like some mail? heheh) Well, if you like, you can now mail me at chocolategrlATgmailDOTcom. (I was going to use my real name, but tricia was taken, and my last name is so dang plain that I didn’t feel like looking at tricia.smith for a million years. So chocolategrl it is. ;)

Christmas Songs

Yet another goodie from Michael that I couldn’t resist. Thanks.
Sorry for the lack of current postings, my body has not been able to catch up with my mind this week. I think my mind is blowing raspberries.
1. Do you have a favorite Christmas song? If so, what is it?
Hard to say, really. I like all kinds of Christmas songs, but I do remember playing O Holy Night over and over and over again when I was a child. Although I am no longer Christian, I still appreciate the reverence and tranquility of this song.
2. List your top five Christmas albums/CDs. (or you can go with songs, if you want).
1. Dr. Demento Presents – Greatest Christmas Novelty CD
2. Harry Connick Jr. – When My Heart Finds Christmas
3. Boyz II Men – Christmas Collection: 20th Century Masters
4. NOW That’s What I Call Christmas
5. Various Artists – Jazzy Wonderland
3. Is Christmas music played too much/not enough/just about right? Explain.
I would have to say not enough. Most stations play continuous Christmas music for several hours on Christmas Eve, but other than that it is very sporadic.
4. Were you part of any holiday themed Christmas pagents growing up? If so, please tell us about one that is particularily memorable or stands out. Parents–tell us about one that your children have been involved in or will be involved in this year.
Oh, I was definitely involved, being in Catholic school. I was also in the band, so my favorite pageants were the musical ones, although when I went to high school and discovered the drama department, I enjoyed doing skits and ensembles as well. I don’t know if any of them stands out in my mind, except maybe one where I got to do a solo (on the flute) during Silver Bells. I actually did a great job. :D
BONUS – Is there just one song that you want to hear every year that really makes it feel like Christmas? If so, which song is it? Are there are any special instruments involved? (For example, I love to hear Carol of the Bells played by a handbell choir).
I think for me, oddly enough, it’s either White Christmas or Do You hear What I Hear. I have no idea why.

What’s in YOUR Playlist?

I have a new obsession. I think I need a support group. For real. It’s my portable music player. *hangs head* No, it’s nothing as fancy as an iPod, and I don’t even want one of those. 10,000 songs? Who the heck can listen to 10,000 songs??? Are they just up 24 hours a day shutting out the world with their damn expensive toy? Beats me. I got mine at Target on a wicked good sale (almost 40% off). So BAM! There was my Christmas present to myself. I deserve it. :) It might not be the best out there, but it really has been good to me so far. I can fit about 108 .wma’s on it. (There is still ROOM on the device, just for some reason it doesnt like more than 108 songs. Go figure.) But then, I don’t see how I could actually listen to more than 108 songs. Especially since if I get tired of some, I can just hook that puppy back up to the computer and drag and drop. Drag and drop is my friend.
So anyway, my POINT on starting this was…well…what’s in YOUR playlist? Either your portable device, or just your main playlist on your computer, or what’s in your favorite mix CD. Please, do tell, and link back here in case anyone else wants to tell!
Here’s mine: clickety-click!

OMG!!!

LoL, this has got to be the funniest thing I have seen in a while. And oddly enough, how appropriate. Thanks, Chaos.

All I Want For Christmas…

Michael invites us all to post a list of 10 things we would like for Christmas (guidelines are contained in the link). OK, I’ll bite.
I wish:
1. Season One of Stargate SG-1 on DVD.
2. A job. Any job.
3. To maybe actually LOSE a pound or two (or 50. OK, really. Seriously. It could happen!) during the holidays this year.
4. For my boys to have a fantastic Christmas.
5. Just ONE thing from my wishlist.
6. For my friends S and S and their kids to have a wonderful Christmas, regardless of what is going on with them.
7. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on DVD. – *edit* I bought this for myself…patience is not a virtue of mine. LoL!
8. For G to come out (just a little) from under his dark Charlie Brown cloud.
9. For someone to smile.
10. Some decorating help! (LoL, I am so hopeless…I know what LOOKS good, I just don’t know how to achieve it.)

Networking

Just in case anyone might still be looking for someone to fill a position, here is my resume.
What? It could happen. :)

December 1 Christmas Meme

OK, I REALLY need this meme today. I got a call from the nurse’s office at G’s school today that he had been in a fight. *sigh* What the heck? I am so mind-numbingly exhausted and in that “almost-sick-but-not-quite-there” state that I just am not sure how to deal with this. Any ideas?
Also, I added a Radio.Blog to the sidebar, if you click the link my little jukebox will pop up. Let me know if you like it!
Big Orange Michael has issued a Christmas challenge for the month of December. So I figured I would see if I could give it a go. The question will be if I can keep up or not. ;)
1. When do you decorate your home for the season?
It depends. Usually somewhere around two weeks before Christmas.
2. If you have a Christmas tree, what kind of lights do you prefer–multi-color, white, all one color? Do you like blinking, steady on or those chasing lights that do tricks?
I strongly prefer the all-white, elegant type of lights. However, having boys, I am frequently urged to get the “trick” lights. But I only buy them in white. ;)
3. Do your parents or family still have decorations and/or ornaments you made when you were little? Parents–do you still have decorations your children made when they were little?
I don’t know what my mother does, the last time I did speak to her she said she doesn’t decorate anymore, so I guess there you have it. Hopefully she has the old ornaments, because I used to collect all kinds of ornaments when I was a child, and she has never allowed me to have those ornaments. It would be nice to have them enjoyed.
4. Do you like decorating outdoors as well? If so, are you conservative or do you go Clark W. Griswold (from Christmas Vacation)?
Question irrelavent to apartment living. Although there was a time when I had those candle-lights in the windows. Hey, there’s an idea for this year. :)
Bonus — What is your favorite family decoration or family decorating tradition.
Putting the decorations on the tree with my kids.
