Yet another goodie from Michael that I couldn’t resist. Thanks.
Sorry for the lack of current postings, my body has not been able to catch up with my mind this week. I think my mind is blowing raspberries.
1. Do you have a favorite Christmas song? If so, what is it?
Hard to say, really. I like all kinds of Christmas songs, but I do remember playing O Holy Night over and over and over again when I was a child. Although I am no longer Christian, I still appreciate the reverence and tranquility of this song.
2. List your top five Christmas albums/CDs. (or you can go with songs, if you want).
1. Dr. Demento Presents – Greatest Christmas Novelty CD
2. Harry Connick Jr. – When My Heart Finds Christmas
3. Boyz II Men – Christmas Collection: 20th Century Masters
4. NOW That’s What I Call Christmas
5. Various Artists – Jazzy Wonderland
3. Is Christmas music played too much/not enough/just about right? Explain.
I would have to say not enough. Most stations play continuous Christmas music for several hours on Christmas Eve, but other than that it is very sporadic.
4. Were you part of any holiday themed Christmas pagents growing up? If so, please tell us about one that is particularily memorable or stands out. Parents–tell us about one that your children have been involved in or will be involved in this year.
Oh, I was definitely involved, being in Catholic school. I was also in the band, so my favorite pageants were the musical ones, although when I went to high school and discovered the drama department, I enjoyed doing skits and ensembles as well. I don’t know if any of them stands out in my mind, except maybe one where I got to do a solo (on the flute) during Silver Bells. I actually did a great job. 😀
BONUS – Is there just one song that you want to hear every year that really makes it feel like Christmas? If so, which song is it? Are there are any special instruments involved? (For example, I love to hear Carol of the Bells played by a handbell choir).
I think for me, oddly enough, it’s either White Christmas or Do You hear What I Hear. I have no idea why.
